At MC Displays, we had the unique opportunity to collaborate with Nicola Robertson at Nike to create an inclusive and impactful display for their flagship store. Our goal was to elevate the visual experience by introducing diverse and Paralympic mannequins, providing a powerful representation of all athletes.
One of the key components of this project was the development of Paralympic mannequins. We spent considerable time reviewing mood boards and brainstorming how to make the biggest impact in-store. Ultimately, we decided to feature a mannequin with a javelin arm and a running blade, showcasing the resilience and strength of Paralympic athletes. In line with Nike’s 365 initiative, we scanned one of Nike’s athletes and recreated her as a lifelike mannequin for the store.
In addition to this, we included plus-size mannequins to reflect a broader spectrum of athletes. We took precise measurements from a plus-size runner and created a mannequin that stands proudly in-store. To further the inclusive message, we designed a yoga display featuring a plus-size mannequin in a handstand pose, demonstrating the support and strength that plus-size individuals bring to their athletic journey. This setup helps customers engage with Nike's commitment to storytelling, emphasizing the importance of support for athletes of all sizes.
Another integral aspect of this project was creating a diverse "Bra Bar" with Nicola Robertson. This display took into account various ages and body types, recognizing the importance of inclusivity across all life stages. Studies show that many young women disengage from sports during their teenage years, and we wanted to challenge this trend by creating an environment where every female customer feels represented, comfortable, and heard.
Our partnership with Nike reflects our shared commitment to promoting diversity and inclusivity in sports. With these new, groundbreaking mannequins, we aim to enhance the shopping experience for every customer, ensuring that they feel inspired and connected to the products and stories on display.
